Bykov: The Cabinet Can Guarantee Basic Peace in Society - 1

I believe that this government is composed of sufficiently competent people to guarantee at least basic peace in society. There is a condition for us to move to a more normal regime.

This was told to FOCUS by GERB-SDF MP and Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the National Assembly, Toma Bykov.

The government has clear and specific tasks, among which the budget is in first place, he pointed out. "I believe that they will cope with it. It will not end with its adoption. This will be a process of healing public finances in the next two or three years", said Bykov.

According to him, the structure of public finances has been changed over the past four years. "A lot of adventurous moves have been made and this year we are starting with 4.5 billion back - for now. These are payments, signed contracts, invoices issued last year, which must be paid by the state to various institutions and businesses, and this money must be found somewhere. These games with transferring money from one year to another began at the end of 2022, when we received the first tranche of the PVU. Then we ended up with a 3% deficit thanks to the fact that this money was entered as revenue in the budget, but it had to be spent as an expense for the next year. A large part of them was spent on pensions, and they are given for specific projects that must yield results and be accounted for“, recalled the GERB-SDF MP.

He expressed hope that Deputy Prime Minister for European Funds Tomislav Donchev will be able to restore the rhythm of absorption of European funds, which has been disrupted over the past four years. "This money is some of the most controlled and most transparently accounted for, because the rules are set by the European Commission. They were an additional stimulus for both the economy and the administration“, said Toma Bikov.
