A person between 17 and 20 years old could earn between 200 and 300 leva per day from selling vapes. This was stated to bTV by Yordan Peshev from the Economic Police of the State Department of Internal Affairs.
He pointed out that since the beginning of the year, the State Department of Internal Affairs has been working as a priority to counteract the sale of electronic cigarettes without an excise stamp, as well as those containing hexahydrocannabinol. Daily specialized police operations are being conducted.
Since the beginning of the year, ten people have been detained with pre-trial proceedings initiated for trading in illegal vapes.
Peshev pointed out that sales are established mostly in groups in mobile applications, where communication takes place on how and where the product should be delivered. Along this line, the Economic Police cooperates with "Cybersecurity" in the General Directorate of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism.
"There is always someone who stands at the top of the pyramid, at the same time these devices do not reach him in any way and we could not connect him to this activity. Our goal is precisely this - to break the chain, but this is becoming increasingly difficult," explained Peshev.
He noted that the interesting thing is that these devices arrive from the Asian market and even if the importers wish, they cannot be registered and taxed, since according to the Excise and Tax Warehouses Act, those with up to 2 mg of liquid and up to 2% nicotine content can be registered on the territory of the EU.
We recall that on February 18, President Rumen Radev convened a meeting of the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) on the topic "Risks and threats to national security arising from the spread of narcotic and intoxicating substances among the younger generation and their abuse".
