The Plovdiv District Court today decides whether to keep Georgi Georgiev, defendant in the "Debora" case, in custody, BNT reports. The man was detained on July 30, 2023.
During the trial, his measure was changed to a lighter one three times. However, after that, the higher instance canceled the ruling and he has not been released. Georgiev's lawyers believe that the charges do not correspond to the time spent behind bars.
The request for a lighter measure will be considered by a new panel of judges, as the case starts over this month. The previous panel recused itself so that there is no doubt that it was biased.
There are three charges brought against Georgiev - for moderate bodily harm, threats and coercion.
