Kristian Vigenin in Veliko Tarnovo: Let's be uncompromising towards corruption and addictions - 1

„We must be uncompromising towards any corrupt practices. The socialists and sympathizers of the BSP are extremely sensitive on this issue and we must be uncompromising, even towards suspicions of addictions and corruption. This is how we will save our face in government. Only if we do not allow actions that contradict our ideas and views, with firmness and consistency, can we emerge with dignity and stronger from this government.“ This was stated by the deputy chairman and candidate for chairman of the BSP Kristian Vigenin at a meeting with socialists from Veliko Tarnovo. He emphasized that the party's new political program must comply with the new realities - for the socialists to find themselves in the new environment. He informed that the party congress will consider basic guidelines for the development of the BSP, in the development of which he himself is an active participant.

“Before making important decisions, we need to hear the party. Municipal and regional structures are very valuable as an active participant in the formation of future left-wing policies“, Kristian Vigenin presented another of his ideas. He is against imposing positions from above, because when more people are engaged with the problems, the solutions are better. If the socialists vote for him to be the chairman of the BSP, Kristian Vigenin intends to create a Council of Regional Chairmen in order to have more active communication between them and the national leadership. “We need to stop the practice of making decisions only in Sofia, without taking into account the real problems and solutions that are proposed locally“, he is convinced.

“The unprincipled opposition in the party must stop. Let's unite people and give them a cause. Instead of using so much energy in internal party battles, let's direct our energy outward - to achieve constructive left-wing solutions that people expect from us“, Kristian Vigenin urged. He gave an example of a good cause to the socialists in Veliko Tarnovo when he was the leader of the national list for deputies – the restored tombstone of Nikola Gabrovski and his wife Maria Gabrovska in the “Druzhba“ park.

If elected as the chairman of the BSP, Vigenin intends to conduct a complete review of the organizational state according to clear criteria, in order to apply individual recovery measures to each of the organizations, tailored to their problems and specifics. According to him, it is imperative to have a fair distribution of state subsidies to the local structures of the party in order for them to be effective.

“I clearly realize how difficult the next chairman has. I am aware of what it will cost me and how complicated the situation is. I have been involved with the BSP since I was a student, and in 1994 I was among the founders of the new youth organization of the party.

I have experienced all the moments of the party - both the successes and the failures. Everything I offer is based on the experience I have gained. I want a better future for the party. I believe that I can cope and be an effective chairman. The moment is critical and failure now may cost us the opportunity to return as a leading parliamentary force. Together we can change the direction!“ – this is how Kristian Vigenin emotionally argued his decision to run for chairman of the BSP.
