The head of the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking at the "Customs" Agency, Stefan Bakalov, announced that there is data on the use of a new drug, the so-called "elephant anesthetic". "This is a type of tranquilizer that is used in veterinary medicine, and is often used for elephants - it is so powerful. When taken by a person, it leads to a coma or people fall to the ground and remain silent for a long time," he added to Nova TV.
Stefan Bakalov explained that the idea of the drug is completely different. "The potency of different psychoactive substances is important for manufacturers. The stronger it is, the more doses are made with less investment. The risk here is that in this option for adding ingredients, the quantity cannot always be precisely regulated. This is the dangerous moment when complications from an overdose and very often death occur“, said the specialist.
“The elephant anesthetic“ has been present in Europe since last year, according to information from the authorities. “We try to inform children in advance how scary it can be. There are cases in neighboring countries, in Bulgaria we still have no data or at least we have not understood“, said Bakalov.
The head of the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking explained that the “Customs“ Agency fully supports the ban on the use of vapes in any form. “The truth is that any such device can contain a psychoactive substance“, he added.
“In the Czech Republic, where vapes are most widely distributed, last year in just four weeks more than 100 children were hospitalized due to their use“, emphasized the head of the Drug Trafficking Department at the “Customs“ Agency.
