The scandal is huge. We have submitted a proposal for hearing several ministers, said Kostadinov

NEK, without having the right to do so, has concluded an agreement not with the Greek state, but with the region of Macedonia and Thrace for its extension until the end of the summer. This means that tens of millions of cubic meters of water have been given to Greece for free, and not as reparations. This was stated by the leader of “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov, a BGNES reporter reported.

“The scandal is huge. We have submitted a proposal for hearing several ministers, but the Speaker of the National Assembly refused to allow this item on the grounds that it is meaningless”, said Kostadinov.

BGNES recalls that Bulgaria was forced to give the waters of the Arda River to Greece under an agreement for the payment of reparations. After this agreement expires, Bulgaria has no legal basis to give its waters to Greece.
At the same time, Athens is putting pressure on Sofia to extend the agreement because it has done nothing to provide irrigation water to farmers in the Western Thrace region. For this reason, there are already protests there against the negligence of the Greek authorities.
