Are there any tremors in the ruling majority and will the cabinet be able to withstand the pressure? The topic was commented on by political analyst Georgi Harizanov and journalist Vesselin Stoynev on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”.
“The government should not have included the BSP, but with a clearly expressed right-wing political profile”, emphasized Harizanov. He also said that the cabinet is heterogeneous and the BSP cannot be expected to support Ukraine and pro-European decisions. “Fortunately, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov is strong enough, with sufficiently serious support from his party and with a clear political position. He has the courage and character to say the right things, even when they are not supported by some of the coalition partners. So as a country, thanks to Rosen Zhelyazkov and GERB, we look good abroad”, the analyst explained.
Stoynev is of the opinion that Bulgaria will not help Ukraine any more, and Harizanov pointed out that the statements of Zhelyazkov and Zelensky give a signal to the contrary. The journalist also said that although the Prime Minister has taken a categorical position, it seems that there is a waiting period.
Domestic policy
The government has been unstable from the very beginning, and the regulators are again the stumbling block, Stoynev believes. However, he is of the opinion that the government will not be overthrown.
According to the journalist, Natalia Kiselova is not among the strong figures in parliament. He pointed out that the Speaker of the National Assembly always faces the issue of reformatting the parliamentary majority.
Harizanov said that a more suitable head of the National Assembly would be Atanas Atanasov.
