The fact that "BSP - United Left" is in power gives us new opportunities, but also hides its risks, said the organizational secretary of the BSP and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov to the delegates at the meeting of the 51st Congress of the BSP.
We must be very careful, especially those of us who are ministers in this Council of Ministers, because disappointment is a projection of expectation, and people have huge expectations from us in this complex government in which we find ourselves, he pointed out. First of all, the current topic is the budget, Gutsanov noted. According to him, they should try to make budgets at least ten years ahead in order to know which sectors and which regions will develop and to resist the demographic crisis.
At the same time, we must not allow people's social rights to be affected in this complex governance, said Borislav Gutsanov. He pointed out that the view of the current Executive Bureau and National Council of the BSP is not to touch the so-called Swiss rule for pension indexation.
Gutsanov also noted that energy is a sensitive topic. According to him, now is the time to protect the national interest and prevent the sale of the reactors for the Belene NPP.
He pointed out that Bulgaria has its place in Brussels, in Europe, but it must also maintain dialogue with Beijing and Moscow.
According to Gutsanov, modern left-wing politics obliges the BSP to "protect people from the modern scourges of inflation, profiteering on the backs of ordinary people, normal business and economy, the inability of every person to start over and get on their feet due to the lack of a law on personal bankruptcy".
We can and will take the next step, which is extremely important for young families, which will be in the form of long-term interest-free loans for the purchase of a first home and a car, let's call it "roof and four wheels", in the way it was done in Hungary, and to provide jobs and a strong economy, said Gutsanov. We must also reformat our tax system for greater justice, he believes.
We must pursue this complex policy in order to be a truly strong left-wing party and not have 20, but 121 members of parliament, commented Borislav Gutsanov, quoted by BTA. He reported on the activities of the Socialists in parliament for the last four and a half years, which period covers eight parliaments. According to him, the entire report is over 300 pages.
