I am convinced that the Bulgarian interest cannot be a world in which the bigwigs distribute spheres of influence, and then only call to inform. This was said in the program “Face to Face“ on bTV by the MEP from the PP-DB Nikola Minchev regarding Bulgaria's position on the new situation surrounding the war in Ukraine.
In his words, Bulgaria definitely needs a clear position on the issue.
“The signals from people in leading state positions are very diverse and for the most part deeply wrong. The only position that deserves to be supported is that of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, which he published on Saturday at noon – for support to the Ukrainian people“, commented Minchev.
According to him, the signals coming from President Rumen Radev, from the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova and from members of the ruling coalition would leave Bulgaria on the periphery.
The MEP reproached the president for not convening the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) on the new situation surrounding the war in Ukraine.
Minchev added that Radev is convening the NSAC on “populist topics“ (the last meeting was on the topic “Risks and threats to national security arising from the spread of narcotics and intoxicants among the younger generation and their abuse“).
That is why Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov's initiative to convene the Security Council to the Council of Ministers is a good one, added the PP-DB representative.
