Vazrazhdane: IMF falsifies budget deficit data - 1

The parliamentary group of “Vazrazhdane” has received information that a secret IMF mission is in our country to participate in an attempt to falsify budget deficit data. Their goals are twofold - the deficit on an accrual basis for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the preparation of the 2025 draft budget with artificially improved parameters, aimed at “ Greek” covering the Maastricht deficit criterion. We all witnessed what happened in Greece, it is obvious that an attempt is being made to make exactly the same happen here.

Such a position was sent to the media by the parliamentary group of "Vazrazhdane", transmitted by FOCUS.

Here is what else they wrote:

"For many years now, the IMF has not stopped calling for the destruction of the Bulgarian lev and our currency board. How long will the IMF's talks with Bulgarian institutions remain hidden from Bulgarian citizens? Once again, it seems that Kristalina Georgieva is using her influence as chairwoman of the Fund to influence processes inside our country without having either the right or the mandate to do so.

Again, this is happening through the BNB and its leadership, which is a springboard for the actions of foreign economists sent to help manipulate Bulgarian data and conceal it. We see taken over Bulgarian institutions and unelected international bureaucrats going against the will of the vast majority of Bulgarians. We will have to follow the example from across the ocean and, just as Trump left the World Health Organization, we will leave the IMF until it stops interfering in our internal affairs.

We insist on receiving answers to the following questions on Monday: Will these important IMF meetings be secret again? Why has the program of the visit with the IMF meetings in Sofia not been published anywhere? Which Bulgarians are participating in this briefing? Are the NSI and the Ministry of Finance involved again? Will Bulgarian institutions provide foreigners with data about our economy that is not public and not known to the Bulgarian public? Are the IMF economists aware that they are working against the will of the vast majority of Bulgarians? We want a meeting with the IMF mission on Monday morning in the National Assembly building - so that they can answer and report their analyses of the Bulgarian economy to the people's representatives, instead of holding meetings in closed offices with bureaucrats who were not elected by anyone."
