The turnover of large retail chains in our country decreased by 28.8 percent on the day of the boycott compared to the previous day. This represents a decrease of 7.9 million leva on a daily basis, as the turnover on February 12 amounted to 27.3 million leva, while on the day of the boycott, February 13, the turnover reached 19.4 million leva.
This was stated by the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova to journalists at the Council of Ministers, quoted by NOVA.
The data are from the reports of the fiscal devices of large retail chains.
Petkova took part in an extraordinary meeting convened by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. The topic of the meeting was the prices of food goods, with the focus of the meeting being the protection of the rights of Bulgarian consumers and possible measures to calm the market.
The next boycott is scheduled for February 20. It will be aimed mainly at large chains, the organizers say. “The boycott was completely successful and the numbers speak for themselves - a 30% drop in the turnover of retail chains on February 13, nearly 8 million leva. People have shown that this price terror cannot continue any longer. "The result of the boycott is definitely more than satisfactory and we continue - on February 20, do not buy," said the creator of the Facebook group "Boycott of Supermarkets" Alexander Bubia.
