Due to the intense snowfall in the territory of Sofia, treatments with anti-icing mixtures, as well as pushing snow mass, continue, the Sofia Municipality reports.
As of 11:00 a.m., treatments are being carried out with 170 snow removal machines.
The companies engaged in the city cleaning activities are performing treatments by spreading mixtures as a priority on all streets and boulevards where public transport operates, as well as on the Southern Arc of the Ring Road, steep sections and bridges. Partially, intra-neighborhood streets are also being treated.
Snow removal is also being carried out on municipal roads in the Kremikovtzi, Pancharevo, Novi Iskar and Bankya districts. The roads are passable in winter conditions. Sidewalks and approaches to underpasses and public transport stops are being cleaned.
In the "Vitosha" Nature Park, sandblasting and snow removal have been carried out on both roads: "Boyana" district – Zlatnite mostove area" and "Dragalevtsi" district – Aleko hut".
Public transport operates its routes in winter conditions, with the exception of buses to Vitosha.
Due to the extremely heavy snowfall on Vitosha, bus traffic on lines 61, 63 and 66 has been temporarily suspended. The route of line 49, which runs to the beginning of the village of Klisura, Bankya region, and line 107 – near Boyansko Hanche, Vitosha region.
Snow removal activities are supervised by the teams of the Sofia Inspectorate. Teams of the Emergency Assistance and Prevention Directorate conduct constant field patrols and monitor the road situation.
The municipality urges drivers to use vehicles equipped for winter conditions and to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed.
