Most financial frauds, both in real life and online, have one thing in common - a promise of quick and easy profit. Usually, if it is too good to be true, it is more likely not to be true.

“Financial frauds are happening on a massive scale in Europe, and now in Bulgaria as well. People over 60 are targeted because they are more trusting, they are not familiar with online trends. They can be reached in various ways - via email, SMS, advertising on social networks, QR code. The goal is to take the victim's money as quickly as possible. High profits are promised”, commented the chairman of the Bulgarian Association for the Prevention of Financial Crimes Radomir Dukov in the program “Social Network” on NOVA NEWS.

According to him, people who have been fooled by the fraudulent scheme are in a hurry to invest all their money, and through a fee for exiting the scheme, the crypto platforms in which the funds were invested disappear.

„In Bulgaria, the biggest problem is that people are not familiar with this type of financial fraud. Money through stocks is extremely difficult to earn”, said cybersecurity expert Rostislav Petrov.

„These fraudsters want things to happen immediately – this is the red flag that people should watch out for”, added Dukov.

According to Petrov, the fact that personal documents are requested is not an indication that a given financial platform is legitimate.

„There are fake sites that resemble original brands. One should always check – "There may be a discrepancy in letters," Dukov further explained.
