We will not participate in the election of regulators based on party affiliation and quota, and we will not ensure the quorum for this. This was commented to journalists in parliament by Assen Vassilev, PP co-chair, about the failed plenary session due to the lack of quorum, BTA reports.

The real question here is why the ruling majority could not secure the quorum and whether it is not quite shaken after the performances yesterday, when they proposed a budget, then they had to urgently overhaul it, after we drew attention to the fact that pensions are not being updated according to the "Swiss rule". Now they may have to urgently overhaul it again before Friday, so we see a disagreement in the majority and shaking the government, Vassilev pointed out.

When asked if they were ready for a conversation about ensuring a majority for the election of members from the parliamentary quota in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Vassilev recalled that what they had stated was that first the rules must be clear, fair and transparent. "Before there is any conversation at all about people, there must be clear rules – these people must go through a commission, prove their expertise, check that they have no addictions, all of this was rejected when we proposed it in the commission", he commented.

At the moment, we cannot be asked to cooperate in the hall for the appointment of new party ladybugs in the regulators, added the co-chairman of the PP.

When asked why he expects a new budget overhaul in the coming days, Vassilev explained that the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) has adopted the State Social Security budget with an update of pensions with the "Swiss rule" inside. Yesterday, the Supervisory Board of the NSSI adopted the update of pensions from July 1 to be 8.6%. Vassilev explained that this is not reflected in either the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund or in the state budget itself, that is, the other two laws must also be changed.

"I personally believe that before this budget is adopted on first reading, there are still quite a few scandalous things in it that need to be examined and I would not be surprised if the government takes new urgent measures in this direction. One of these scandalous things is that we have to refinance - that is, old debt, on which we have to return about 3.7 billion leva, there is a deficit of 7.4 billion leva - that is, the new debt, which must be taken on by returning the old one, is about 12 billion leva. 17 billion leva are set aside in the budget. The real question here is why these additional five billion are being drawn and who will benefit from them," added Vassilev. We have assumptions, but those who contribute it owe answers to the Bulgarian people, why they will burden the country with five billion more than what is necessary as debt, he also said.
