A 37-year-old skier died on the "Mechi Chal" ski slope near Chepelare, the spokesperson for the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced, BTA reports.
The incident was reported at 10:16 a.m.
According to the information provided, the skier fell into the forest near the ski slope. He was unconscious, with traces of injuries on his body. It was established that the deceased man was from Plovdiv and was descending the track in the area of the old intermediate station, under the lift.
According to witnesses, he changed direction, headed towards the forest and fell.
After reporting the incident, a team from the Mountain Rescue Service arrived at the scene. The victim was taken to the Emergency Medical Service unconscious. He was pronounced dead in the ambulance.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case, and the results of the scheduled autopsy are awaited.
