"It is right not to appeal, so that we can go to elections faster. So that people can once again have a mayor they have chosen". This was explained to the Bulgarian National Radio by Georgi Iliev, who has been removed from his post as mayor of the capital district "Slatina".
This happened by decision of the Municipal Election Commission due to participation in a commercial company during his inauguration on November 13, 2023. Iliev is a candidate of the coalition that won the local elections between "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" and "Save Sofia".
"For the colleague from German, who is in direct violation of Article 41, which you quote – he was a company manager, they made a different decision. They decided to leave him. While for us, who were elected with a different ballot number, this is the third decision of this same election commission".
I have no cases with any of the political forces, he said in the program "Predi vys".
"I am outraged. The law has been violated".
