This is what former Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said about yesterday's protest of "Vazrazhdane“ to bTV, quoted by FOCUS.
"The security authorities demonstrated total inadequacy. It was very well known two years ago what these politicians did to their supporters, they did the same thing. It was very clear that they aimed to do exactly that. The Ministry of Interior turned out to be totally unprepared – "let them do all their atrocities, move out, take pictures of the yellow paving stones, leave on buses, and then the Minister of Internal Affairs came out with orders to search and detain them," he pointed out.
According to him, this happened after everything had already passed and the aggressive protesters had left successfully.
Todor Tagarev said that this had a very bad effect on Bulgaria's image.
"They have already sent me statements from the former Ukrainian president, who says – – – – – – – – We want Europe, and look what is happening in Bulgaria“. We are giving very bad signals. The kopecks are clear, but the government is inactive“, the former Minister of Defense pointed out.
According to him, the parliament has rushed with the declaration not to send Bulgarian troops for military operations in Ukraine.
"He took the bait, dropped by President Radev, who for 3 years has been very consistently talking about peace, and now that some conditions have appeared for reaching a peace agreement – I doubt that it will come to one soon, the president said that we will never send soldiers to Ukraine, everyone has bought into this thesis and adopted an absolutely unnecessary and harmful declaration“, Todor Tagarev commented to bTV.
According to him, however, it has no weight, but we are sending a signal that "we are small and nothing depends on us". He also pointed out that this declaration deprives us of the opportunity to sit at the negotiating table.
