Demerdzhiev also touched on the topic of yesterday's protest in Vazrazhdane, during which an attempt was made to storm the EC building in Sofia. He pointed out that the tension in society has been brewing for a long time. According to him, citizens have reservations about the introduction of the euro, which have not been taken into account by the government. The relationship between those in power and citizens has been broken. That is why such situations arise, he believes.
According to him, the protesters have no excuse to attack employees of the Ministry of Interior. Demerdzhiev stated that the police cannot be held responsible for failing to stop the protest. He believes that the police officers were faced with a fait accompli. According to him, the question of whether the actions of the uniformed officers were adequate is another matter.
Demerdzhiev recalled that years ago, when paint was poured on the building of the National Assembly, it was said that this was an expression of a civic position, and now when the same is being done to the building of the European Commission, it is vandalism. According to him, this is a manifestation of double standards.
