“The president cannot remain silent when there are such fascist manifestations in the center of Sofia – part of a hybrid operation by the Russians“. This is how the chairman of DSB and PP-DB MP Atanas Atanasov commented on what happened in the center of the capital during the “Vazrazhdane“ protest on Saturday – February 22.
The protest was against Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone, and during the demonstration the European Commission building in Sofia was doused with red paint, and there was even an attempt to set it on fire.
Atanasov asked why the head of state Rumen Radev had not taken a position on what had happened.
“Will he say anything at all, because he sympathizes with Russia and this is publicly known“, commented the PP-DB MP.
In his words, the leader of “Vazrazhdane“ Kostadin Kostadinov provoked the vandalism with his speech from the parliamentary rostrum when he said “We will set you on fire“.
Atanasov also asked why the deputies from Kostadinov's party, who were detained for vandalism, were released.
According to him, if deputies are detained at the scene of a crime, there is no obstacle to their arrest.
“And in this case, it would be frivolous to conduct an investigation for petty hooliganism“, the DSB chairman also commented.
