Why doesn't the cabinet want to adopt anti-corruption legislation and for these funds to enter the Bulgarian economy. This was asked by the co-chair of the Bulgarian People's Party, Asen Vassilev, in connection with the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev that the money under the second payment under the recovery plan will not be paid.
"Last week, experts from the European Commission held meetings with the government and parliament. What was heard from the European Commission is that anti-corruption legislation must be adopted by June so that we don't lose the second payment. There must also be an independent anti-corruption commission without political appointments in it. When they heard this, they gave up on the PVU," said Vassilev.
"The government has no intention of implementing the reforms that are necessary for the second payment, these are the three anti-corruption laws mainly. This puts the implementation of the entire plan at risk," he also said.
According to him, the plan was agreed upon during the "Petkov" cabinet and then all funds for the first payment were paid out. "As of now, 1.8 billion has been paid out to Bulgarian businesses. 11.7 billion has been agreed upon. There is a huge delay in some of the projects," he said.
Vassilev announced that there are approved projects in the Ministry of Energy that are waiting six to seven months to be signed so that they can be implemented.
