The forecast for the Institute for Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism is for 280 thousand Bulgarians setting off on their journeys for the holidays. From today until Monday, a special temporary traffic organization has been introduced in places across the country.
The expected increased traffic does not seem to bother drivers. Ognyan Milenkov explained to NOVA that it will pass along secondary roads, but will not be on the highway and he does not expect a problem.
A special organization has been made - at the Vitinya and Praveshki Hanove tunnels on the Hemus highway. Daniel Ivanichkov, director of the “Maintenance” to the RIA said: "In order to ensure the passage towards Varna on the "Hemus" highway - for light traffic to be carried out in two lanes, in the tunnels that are being repaired. And the traffic towards Sofia to be carried out on the old road, which will happen on the 28th, today and on the 1st, tomorrow, until noon."
There will be changes in this section on Monday as well: "Respectively, on March 3, the traffic towards Sofia will be carried out in 2 lanes on "Hemus" in the area of the repaired tunnels, and the traffic towards Varna will be carried out on the old road."
A point of attraction for many travelers is the region of Kazanlak and Shipka, where the celebrations are. In the region of Mount Shipka, every year in connection with March 3, a temporary organization is introduced that stops the movement of light vehicles on the "Shipka" pass and allows pedestrian access to the summit.
The forecasts are that 40,000 Bulgarians will go to Shipka on March 3. Hotels in the area have long been full.
And the recommendations of the Road Agency are: No matter where we go, drive carefully.
