2323 BGN gross was the average salary in the country in 2024, according to NSI data. Compared to 2023, the growth is almost 14%.
„It is clear from the published data that we have very large differences both between the districts in the country and between the individual industries. And in each of the districts in each of the economic sectors there is also an internal difference between people. We see that Sofia is already clearly over 3000 BGN, but most districts are with 1000 BGN. down“, commented on bTV Lachezar Bogdanov, an economist from the Institute of Market Economics.
„At the same time, salaries in the IT sector are already well over 5,000 leva, in finance they are over 3,500 leva. In the state administration they are already over 3,000 leva, but there are also activities in which salaries are still below 2,000 leva“, Bogdanov also pointed out.
According to him, it should also be taken into account that almost the entire IT sector, where the highly paid specialists are, is concentrated in Sofia.
„Perhaps every eighth worker in Sofia is employed in this sector, where salaries are visibly over 5,000 leva. The same applies to the higher state administration, which is in the capital. Large institutions“, commented Lachezar Bogdanov.
“The bigger question is not only to look at the differences, but also to ask ourselves whether we have good policies that create opportunities in other areas of the country for high-paying jobs“, pointed out the economist.
