The lack of time and resources is the reason why Bulgaria is not hosting the 47th session of UNESCO. This was stated by the Minister of Culture Marian Bachev to the deputies in the parliament.
According to him, the Bulgarian delegation in Delhi did not have a mandate to accept such an invitation.
"Bulgaria remains the host of the session, and Prof. Nenov is its chairman. Only the place changes - it is not the National Palace of Culture, but the UNESCO headquarters", Minister Bachev also pointed out.
The deadline for signing an agreement between Bulgaria and UNESCO for hosting was November 6, 2024. "Even at this stage, there is a serious discrepancy between the established rules and procedures. "The National Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria for UNESCO was not officially consulted when accepting the hosting," he added.
We recall that Bulgaria's hosting of the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was approved on July 31, 2024, within the framework of the 46th session in Delhi, India. A few days ago it became clear that our country is withdrawing from the hosting, and the session will be held in Paris.
