People's representatives Yavor Bozhankov, Kristina Petkova, Stella Nikolova and Manol Peykov from the group of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" submitted an official report to the Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov with a request to investigate the chairman of the "Vazrazhdane" party Kostadin Kostadinov, due to threats of violence and calls for political confrontation, the press center of the SB reported.
The report points out that on March 6, 2025, Kostadinov published a statement on the social network Facebook that contains a dangerous historical reference and an unambiguous threat: "The fate of the anti-Bulgarian elite in 2025. will be the same as that of the anti-Bulgarian elite in 1944." This statement, referring to the events after September 9, 1944, when thousands of representatives of the political, intellectual and military elite of Bulgaria were killed or repressed, constitutes an open instillation of fear and hatred, write the whistleblowers.
The whistleblower also points out other aggressive actions by representatives of the “Vazrazhdane” party:
- On January 22, 2025, Kostadinov declared from the parliamentary rostrum: "We will not allow Bulgaria to enter the eurozone illegally, we will set you on fire if necessary."
- On February 22, 2025, sympathizers and deputies of "Vazrazhdane" attacked the European Commission building in Sofia, using bombs, paint, hammers and committing acts of vandalism, including attempted arson.
- On February 5, 2025, deputies from "Vazrazhdane" attacked MP Manol Peykov in the plenary hall, with quaestors repeatedly trying to prevent the violence.
The reasons point out that: "Calls for physical violence against political opponents are unacceptable in a democratic country. Aggression and violence cannot be a tool for achieving political goals. We expect swift and decisive action from the prosecutor's office to guarantee the security of the institutions and the democratic order in Bulgaria".
