MFA: Avoid Traveling to Serbia - 1

Another large-scale organized protest is planned in Belgrade today. Mobile communications disruptions, disruption of numerous public services, including emergency medical care, major traffic jams and others are possible, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

„We advise Bulgarian citizens and road transport operators to avoid traveling to the Republic of Serbia on March 15 and 16, except in cases of extreme necessity, until the protest actions are over“, the ministry explained.

We recall that preparations are underway for the largest student protest since the demonstrations began in November. However, supporters of the government have also been camping in Belgrade for days.

A NOVA team in Serbia reported that enhanced security measures have been taken in the Serbian capital hours before the most massive protest called for by students. The main demand of the young people is that those responsible for the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station, which claimed 15 lives, be punished.

If in need of assistance, Bulgarian citizens in the Republic of Serbia can contact the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Belgrade at the following tel. numbers: +381 11 36 13 980; +381 11 36 13 990. Reports can also be submitted to the email address: [email protected], as well as to the email address of the Consular Service at the Embassy: [email protected].
