„The majority is not fragile at all. Delyan Peevski and MRF-New Beginning clearly support this government – these are over 150 votes. The government will not be overthrown by either the BSP, the ITN, or the MRF-New Beginning. The only option for this government to go is for Borisov to realize that he is heavily dependent on Peevski and to get rid of this dependence, if he can. I doubt he can. I am also skeptical if there are parties in parliament for whom Borisov and Peevski are evil for the state, that they will manage to unite in a common opposition. The other option remains - for civil society to wake up“.
This was stated on Radio Blagoevgrad by the long-time parliamentarian, today part of “Unruly Bulgaria“ Georgi Svilenski.
“In recent years, we have all had doubts about the results of the elections, but now, after the decision of the Constitutional Court, it has become clear that these elections, and probably the previous ones, were manipulated. On this basis, fake deputies and parliamentary groups are entering the 51st National Assembly. They make the most important decisions for the future of the country, and this calls into question the legality of the state. When we have a fake parliament that has produced a fake government, we cannot expect Bulgarian citizens to believe in the democratic foundations of the state“, commented Svilenski.
According to him, the problem is not so much in the electoral system and the method of voting and reporting, but in the people who organize the process, as well as in the responsibility of political parties.
“There are representatives of the parties in each section. At the same time, in over 2,000 sections it turns out that there are votes written in the protocols in favor of DPS-New Beginning, GERB and BSP. All this shows a synchronization in the action and a disrespect for the fact that people went to vote and give their trust. So whatever the voting system and the method of reporting, don't we have the responsibility of the political forces and those participating in the electoral process, the result will be the same“, emphasized Svilenski.
“Scenario? No, I think the cup just overflowed“, he said in response to the question of why the scandal broke out now, “Now for the first time there was video surveillance and this gave the media and Bulgarian citizens the opportunity to see with their own eyes what we were warning about – how a member of the Electoral Commission can fill out countless ballots, how a mobile section in Sarnitsa, for example, visited over 270 addresses in just a few hours“, pointed out Georgi Svilenski and added:
“But the decision should have been even more extreme, the entire elections should have been canceled. Now we only have an analysis of 2,000 sections, but imagine the manipulation that is taking place across the country. That is why we wanted the elections to be annulled, but the Constitutional Court did not reach this fairer decision“.
Georgi Svilenski stated that machine voting will not restore people's trust in the electoral process.
“We have been debating machine voting for a long time and will probably continue to do so. But when there are people who want to steal the results and take the votes of Bulgarian citizens for their own benefit, no matter what method of voting is invented, the problem will still not be solved. When there are thieves of results, there is no way we can have honest results. Manipulations can also be carried out with machines“, commented Svilenski, emphasizing:
“The question is for us as a society to oppose this. Because, notice, the most votes given from above are for GERB, MPS-NN and BSP-New Beginning.. These parties are in the ruling majority and it is obvious that this plan was prepared in advance. These parties have come to an agreement, have united in which sections to help each other, where to move results, without caring how the voters voted. Delyan Peevski, Boyko Borisov, Atanas Zafirova simply sat down at a meeting and agreed on what results to make so that they would receive a 121-vote majority. It is interesting why there were no such votes in excess for MECH, for “Velicie“, but precisely for these parties that formed the ruling majority“, commented the former MP.
Asked if the BSP defends its role as a social guarantor in government, Svilenski said: “BSP not only does not defend, BSP-New Beginning is retreating from the conquests achieved over the years. They are currently proud that pensions were not reduced. Over the years, the BSP has always advocated that pensions be recalculated, that the incomes of Bulgarian citizens be updated. While now social support has been frozen," he said and gave an example:
„Yesterday I heard that a proposal for free medicines for children up to 7 years old was adopted, and only for 2-3 diseases. However, last year the BSP proposal was – free medicines for children up to 14 years old for the whole year. And now they are offered – for children up to 7 years old and only for 3 months - from October to December. An absolute retreat“.
Georgi Svilenski was categorical: „BSP does not protect the interests of those who elected them, but of those who helped them enter the Bulgarian parliament. In fact, BSP has become an affiliated organization of Borisov and Peevski – so do not expect this parliamentary group and this formation to really be the social pillar in the government, no matter how much they explain it from the television studios how they are the social guarantor. The social guarantor for what – 3 months of free medicines for children up to 7 years old? No, the proposal is free medicines for children up to 14 years old for a whole year. Free medicines for the elderly over 70 years old, because they are the ones who have suffered the most from the healthcare system, said the former MP, today part of “Nepokorna Bulgaria
