In Ruse, a 40-year-old man received an effective sentence for possession of narcotics for the purpose of distribution. The District Court in the Danube city approved an agreement according to which E.H. was found guilty, the District Prosecutor's Office - Ruse announced.
The convict had possessed high-risk narcotics without a proper permit under the Narcotics and Precursors Control Act. The crime was committed in the period July 22-23, 2024 in the city of Ruse.
During the man's detention, two types of narcotics were found - methamphetamine with a total net weight of 16.36 grams and fentanyl with a net weight of 5.87 grams. Particularly worrying is the fact that fentanyl was found among the substances - a synthetic opioid that is many times stronger than heroin and poses a serious threat to public health.
For the crime committed under Art. 354a, para. 1, sentence 1, item 4 of the Criminal Code, the 40-year-old was sentenced to one year and eight months of imprisonment under general regime. In addition, he was also fined 2,500 leva.
The case was concluded after an agreement approved by the District Court - Ruse, which has the force of an effective sentence. The accused was subject to a preventive measure of “Detention in custody" and has already been taken to prison to serve his sentence.
The seized high-risk narcotics, the subject of the crime, have been confiscated for the benefit of the state and are about to be destroyed.
