We will do everything possible to increase the benefits for the second year of maternity and unemployment in 2026. This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov in the National Assembly after the final vote on the Law on the State Social Security Budget, which is part of the consolidated state budget.
„Thank you to everyone who supported the law and everyone who spoke out on it. This was the possible budget. We must not forget where we started from. However, we managed to keep taxes without increasing them. We also preserved all social benefits“, said Gutsanov, quoted by the press center of MLSP.
„We also retained the Swiss rule, according to which all pensions will increase by 8.6% from July 1,“ he added. The parliament also voted to increase the minimum pension for full insurance experience and age to BGN 630.50 from July 1. The average pension is expected to reach BGN 975.18, which is a growth of 10.4%. In 2025, a little over BGN 24.1 billion is planned for the payment of all types of pensions and their supplements. These costs are almost BGN 2.5 billion or 11.6 percent more compared to 2024.
From April 1, the minimum social security income will be BGN 1,077, and the maximum – 4130 leva, the members of parliament also decided.
The Minister of Labor also drew attention to the planned larger financial resource for social payments in the state budget, which is about to be adopted. “Expenditures for people with disabilities will increase to 2.043 billion leva - 36% more than last year. 381 million leva will be used to finance the improvement of the environment of 81 homes for the elderly. We have preserved everything that is necessary for the most vulnerable“, said Minister Borislav Gutsanov.
