Christian Vigenin: The policy towards Ukraine is not the red line that will bring down the government - 1

Instead of gradually cleaning up our environment, we are polluting the European environment. This was commented on “From the Day“ by MEP and member of the BSP executive bureau Christian Vigenin in connection with the scandal with the Bulgarian representative in the European Prosecutor's Office Teodora Georgieva.

He explained that the doubts about the appointment of the Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva provoked him to contact the European Prosecutor's Office in Luxembourg.

Such types of actions compromise the entire European Prosecutor's Office. It is important for me that it maintains its integrity. It turns out, that instead of gradually cleaning up our environment, we are polluting the European environment. My question was what measures Kovesi intends to take in this regard. She replied that she could not comment at this stage because there is a Bulgarian investigation, but listed what actions the European Public Prosecutor's Office could take. "She has taken one of them since yesterday," Vigenin explained.

If Teodora Georgieva really feels threatened, she should file a report with the Bulgarian and European prosecutors, Vigenin said.

According to Vigenin, this case should not affect our admission to the eurozone.

It became clear from his words that he is not worried about the stability of the government.

"I am not so worried about the stability of the government, because, as far as I hear, it will not be left without a majority... What worries me is that we entered this government with the condition and understanding that there is a clear majority behind this government. When there is a clear majority, then you can foresee and plan policy. When there is a floating majority, then you have no guarantees as to what will come out of what you bring in as a project in the end. This does not affect the stability of the government that much. There will obviously be a government, the question is how effectively it will work", commented Christian Vigenin.

According to him, one should not rush to predict what MRF-DPS will do and whether they will withdraw their support, but to monitor how things will develop.

He also commented on whether the BSP fully supports Zhelyazkov when he stands categorically with Ukraine:

“The policy towards Ukraine is not the red line that will bring down the government. At the same time, let's pay attention to something else - our participation in the government has made Bulgarian policy softer regarding this conflict“, commented Vigenin.

According to Vigenin, the vote of no confidence submitted by "Vazrazhdane" will not succeed.

“I believe that this vote of no confidence is excessive, unreasoned, and I am confident that we will defend our positions in the National Assembly next week“, commented Vigenin.
