Energy Minister: The capacity of the Chiren gas storage facility has already been expanded by 20% - 1

A change in technology is the reason for the investigation into the project for the expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility. This was stated in Burgas by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio. He stated that the capacity of the gas storage facility has already been expanded by 20% with new gas compressors.
On the ground part of the project for the expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility, the gas compressors have already been installed, said Minister Stankov. They have been issued with Act 16 and are currently being tested:

"To date, the Chiren gas storage facility of 550 million cubic meters, then for the next period, which is now about to begin in the spring and summer, it will be increased by 100 million cubic meters. Bulgarian households and businesses will be able to use cheap gas in the summer."

The technical problem led to the investigation of the project, said Minister Zhecho Stankov:

"There were meetings of the councils at "Bulgartransgaz", which considered changing the technology. To what extent this was appropriate is a matter for the judicial authorities to establish."

The Minister of Energy does not have the authority to change the management of "Bulgartransgaz" because of the scandal with the project, Zhecho Stankov emphasized and added that the decisions on the management of the company are made by the Supervisory Board.

At the port of West Burgas, Minister Stankov presented the project of a vertical gas corridor, which will begin construction in early May.

111 million BGN is the investment in the first stage of the project from Kulata to Kresna. The gas pipeline will provide serious dividends from the transit of gas and will guarantee regular supplies of the raw material for our country, Zhecho Stankov also said.
