The Bulgarian Socialist Delegation in the European Parliament supported the sports festival "Hand in Hand", dedicated to World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), for children with special educational needs and their families.
In their address to the organizers and participants of the initiative, Tsvetelina Penkova and Kristian Vigenin stressed how important it is to support the dignity, rights and efforts of people with autism to have an equal participation in the life of society.
“Your dedication and daily efforts remind us that change starts with people like you, who work tirelessly to provide opportunities and support to children with special needs“, Penkova addressed the organizers of the festival - the sports clubs “SOP, SPORT, SAMBO FOR DEVELOPMENT“ and “BG AND SPORT FOR ALL“, as well as the “Autism -
education, future and opportunities“ Association.
She emphasized the importance of the event as a vivid example of how joint work can create a society in which every child finds significance, respect and confidence.
“Just as you are together today, so too must the institutions work together on the problems of people with autism and we guarantee that we will do what is necessary for the representatives in the European Parliament, in the National Assembly and in the Sofia Municipal Council to coordinate their actions in your support“, said Christian Vigenin.
The delegation of the Bulgarian Socialists in the European Parliament will continue its efforts to attract public attention to this topic with another discussion with a charitable cause under the title “Being different is a privilege!“, which will be held held on April 25 in Sofia.
