Two years after the case in which migrants were found dead in a truck near Sofia, the prosecutor's office is filing an indictment against five people in court. They will be charged with participation in an organized crime group, racketeering and murder.
In February 2023, 18 migrants who died of suffocation were found in an abandoned truck in the Sofia village of Lokorsko. Another 34 men were found frozen to death and admitted to hospitals in the capital.
The indictment states that a total of 52 Afghans were loaded into the truck, pressed tightly together, unable to breathe normally.
The deaths of the deceased occurred in a particularly painful way, the state prosecution added.
