Donation is a cause that should unite, not divide and the Bulgarian Medical Union (BLS) is monitoring with concern the tension that has arisen in the public space after the round table "Attitudes of Bulgarians towards donation and transplantation", organized by the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision". This was announced by the Medical Union.
Donation is a cause that goes beyond our differences, the professional organization added. Solving the problems related to the low percentage of donor situations in our country is possible only if state institutions, religious communities in Bulgaria, the non-governmental sector, doctors and patients work together. In this sense, discrediting leadership positions and the efforts made, demanding resignations, should not solve the problems and help optimize the donation and transplantation process in our country, added the BMA.
The BMA expresses its support for the efforts made so far by all institutions directly or indirectly involved in these processes and expresses its readiness for expert support to achieve a real improvement in the situation with donation and transplantation in our country.
After the discussion, the association “Bulgarian Society of Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension“, Patient Organizations “Together with You” and the Alliance of Transplanted and Operated Patients “Future for All” expressed their positions due to the disrespectful, in their opinion, attitude in relation to the round table. The organizations insisted that the Minister of Health announce the results of the inspection in “Medical Supervision” on the spending of funds under the National Donor Promotion Program.
