The man who beat up the meteorologists on Mount Murgash did not escape from the hospital, but was on a walk and did not return.
This was explained to BNT by the director of psychiatry in Kurilo, Tsvetislava Galabova.
According to her, so far the man has not caused any problems and has been taking his medication.
The hospital director also explained that he has been taking similar walks every day and that the medical facility is not a prison, but a hospital.
"The mentally ill person did not run away, he walked calmly and simply deviated from the medical facility. We have no obligation to guard anyone. If the court had judged that he needed security, they would have appointed one. When there is a need, the court appoints security and sends them.
BNT: When he is in a court order, is he not monitored by your staff?
By which staff, madam, should he be monitored? There is one nurse and one orderly for 30 patients. Should they feed them, give them their medicine, remind them to take a bath or keep them from getting into conflict with each other. Who exactly should monitor them? Yes, they don't monitor them, we don't have the opportunity and we don't have the obligation.
BNT: Do such things happen often?
"Of course, everyday life", explained the director of psychiatry in Kurilo, Tsvetislava Galabova.
Galabova also explained that the doctor on duty was the first to notice the man's absence. After he was found, he was returned to the hospital in adequate condition, according to Galabova.
