Plevneliev does not want to be president again, but for Borisov: Everything is possible! - 1

President Rosen Plevneliev (2012-2017) indicated that he has no ambitions to return to where he was, as head of state.

"In GERB, decisions are made at the last minute, personally by Borisov. The decision on who will be the candidate for president of GERB for the upcoming elections in the fall of 2026 will be made at the last minute, around September 10, for example. They did not seek me out. I have no ambitions to be back where I was. I don't want to," he insisted to bTV.

When asked if it was possible for GERB leader Boyko Borisov to be a presidential candidate, he replied: "Everything is possible, this will be decided in the early fall of 2026.".

"Anything can stop us, but the most that will stop us is the internal division, political instability and the impossibility of Bulgarian institutions as a whole. The BNB, the National Assembly and the government must tell European partners very clearly that we have the political will and we want to enter the eurozone. This is still not happening the way it should be," commented Plevneliev.

According to him, support for the government is floating, but it can always be restructured.

"Bulgaria is on its way to achieving a major strategic goal - entering the eurozone, so it is worth trying. Let's hope that there will be no more snap elections until we enter the eurozone. Both the PP-DB and the "DPS-New Beginning" party have a common goal, and that is for Bulgaria to enter the eurozone. Whoever supports the government in achieving this strategic goal – their vote is welcome and must be taken", he said.

According to Rosen Plevneliev, however, there is no clear strategy for what will happen after entering the eurozone.

"The big drama is how the president will position himself, whether this political structure will survive after entering the eurozone, how sustainable it will be. There will be no other move for Borisov. He and his party must do their best to get Bulgaria into the eurozone, but also to guarantee the stability of the government for at least a year after that,", he added.

"A poster from yesterday's protest ruined me – Is the life of a child worth 50 leva, because an institution cannot spend 50 leva to put up an adequate sign on which a child's life may depend. In addition to urgent actions, Bulgarians must change the way we drive. We cannot drive drunk and drugged every day, we cannot run our children over on pedestrian crossings. Severe sanctions, as many cameras as possible, control and heavier fines. There is no other way," said the president in the period 2012-2017.
