The cases of severe gastrointestinal disorders in Bansko are not decreasing. Dozens of people with the same symptoms have visited their GPs. The main version of the people in the city is that the mass infection is from the water. Today, teams from the RHI and employees of the Water and Sewerage Department-Blagoevgrad will take samples of the water.
"Such intestinal infections are possible everywhere, but I am surprised by the fact that for 5 days no one has done what is necessary", commented epidemiologist Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev.
He emphasized that in many cases of infection, the first thing that needs to be done is to clarify the causative agent.
"This should have been decided 5 days ago so that there would be some mechanism to reduce the cases".
In the program "Predi vse" Prof. Kantardzhiev pointed out that the causative agent could be a virus, but if the Water and Sewerage Authority had increased the amount of chlorine in the water - the result would again be mass gastrointestinal disorders.
People need to be informed quickly and know what the recommendations are, the expert commented.
Prof. Kantardzhiev also reminded us how to protect ourselves from ticks and what we should do if we have already been bitten. He noted the diseases that ticks carry and gave recommendations for first reactions.
