Vasil Terziev: There are no more special rules for "special people" in Sofia - 1

"There are no more special rules for "special people" in Sofia. The law is the same for everyone", wrote Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev on his Facebook profile.

"Today we resumed the removal of the illegal building near the Iskar Dam. Upon appeal by the Sofia Municipality, the Sofia Court of Appeal finally overturned the interim measure issued by the Pernik District Court, which blocked the demolition of the building, added the mayor of the capital of Bulgaria.

"This building, built in 2020 by the company “Bio Mining“, associated with businessman Rumen Gaitanski, is located on the territory of the state hunting farm “Iskar“. It was built without the necessary investment projects and a building permit, which makes it illegal according to the Spatial Planning Act,” Terziev also said.

"Despite the court decision to remove it that entered into force, the implementation was hindered by various means – locked doors, parked cars, cut equipment cables and even an order to restrict access under the pretext of protecting wildlife," he added.

"This case is indicative of the need for equality before the law and upholding the public interest. The removal of this illegal building is another small step towards restoring trust in institutions and ensuring that no one is above the law," the mayor added.

"We expect new attempts to stop us – in any direct and indirect way: through pressure, legal actions, tabloid press or other attacks. But we will not back down. We will apply the law every day – with perseverance, with transparency and with calm confidence that we are doing the right thing," Terziev concluded his post with these words.
