The tunnels, built to shelter Londoners during the German bombings of World War II, will be transformed into the biggest new attraction in the British capital.

The tunnels are over 1.5 kilometres long and in places are high enough to accommodate a double-decker bus.

They were dug by hand in the late 1940s, when German planes bombed the city almost every day and night, Nova TV reports.

The tunnel network has been deserted since the 1970s, and is currently a maze of old generators, pipes and rusty bolts.

Investors plan to turn the tunnels into a museum, and why not part of them into a restaurant.

The plan will cost around 120 million pounds and according to initial plans it will be ready by the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028.
