The terminal area and capacity of Antalya Airport will double with the opening of new domestic and international terminals on April 12. This was stated by Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who said that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will participate in the opening ceremony.
„President Tayyip Erdogan will inaugurate new terminal buildings at Antalya Airport on April 12. We are increasing the area of the international terminal from 90,100 sq m to 224,000 sq m. The domestic terminal will expand from 36,800 sq m. m to 75,000. In this way, the annual capacity of Antalya Airport will increase to 82 million passengers from an average of 35 million at present“, the minister said in a statement on the ministry's website.
The number of aircraft parking lots will also increase from 108 to 176. The airport's existing VIP terminal has been expanded from 690 sq.m. to 2,000. A 2,000 sq.m. government guesthouse will also be opened on the territory of the air port, and the territory and premises of various airport services have been significantly expanded.
Uraloglu reported that Antalya Airport managed to serve 39.2 million passengers in 2024. “By the end of 2024 "we have served 45,351 aircraft and 6.2 million passengers on domestic routes, as well as 188,700 aircraft and 32.9 million passengers on international routes," the minister added.
During the summer season, Antalya Airport is one of the busiest transport hubs in Turkey – second only to Istanbul and one of the twenty busiest airports in Europe. During the peak season, planes take off or land on average every five minutes. The air harbor has three runways, two of which are actively used.
