A drunk and drugged 50-year-old driver of a collection car caused an accident in Razgrad region. According to initial information, he lost control of the company car and hit the car of a 40-year-old woman. Shortly after, he tried to bribe her with 6,000 leva from the money he was carrying and she agreed. However, a passerby saw the traffic accident in the center of the village of Kapinovtsi and called the police, who detained the guilty driver. The incident took place on Sunday, and after 24 hours in custody, the guilty driver was released.

"On January 12, at around 5:10 p.m., a signal was received that a traffic accident had been seen in the center of the village of Kapinovtsi. The accident was immediately attended. The driver of a car belonging to a security company lost control of the collection vehicle, entered the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a car owned by a woman from Isperih. It was established that the driver of the collection vehicle, in order to cover up the accident, tried to give a sum of money to the other participant in the accident, who accepted it. Due to the fact that he did not have that much money on him, he took the amount from the official money. The same person was driving the car with over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood and was driving after using drugs. Two pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case - for theft of a sum of official money and for driving while intoxicated and after using drugs. This is unacceptable behavior," emphasized Chief Inspector Konstantin Kostov - Head of the Regional Department – Isperih.
