The upcoming week will be typically wintery, with low temperatures and snowfall that will cover various regions of the country. In general, precipitation will stop after Wednesday, but temperatures will decrease.
The Balkans will remain under the influence of a high-pressure ridge located over Eastern and Northern Europe. Colder Arctic air will continue to invade the peninsula and temperatures will remain around and below the February norm. Temperatures will decrease and the minimums in many regions, mainly in the Danube Plain and on the high western fields, will drop and will be below minus 15 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, it will remain mostly cloudy, with snowfall, with more significant ones in Eastern Bulgaria and the Rhodope Mountains. The wind in most of the country will be weak, while in the eastern regions it will be moderate and northeasterly, and temperatures will begin to drop. Expected temperatures will be between minus -4° and plus 2°C. Minimum temperatures in most regions will be between minus -8 to -10°C. Temperatures around the Black Sea coast and in Sandanski will be higher - up to minus -2-3°C
We expect an improvement in the weather from Wednesday. Then precipitation from the west will stop everywhere. Clouds will also begin to break, which will lead to more sunny hours in some regions. Low temperatures and even below minus -12-13°C await us in the morning hours. Expected maximum temperatures will be between minus -2° and plus 3°C.
Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny, but cold. The wind will remain weak in Western and Central Bulgaria, while in Eastern Bulgaria it will blow moderately from the northeast. In the morning hours we can expect low temperatures and even below minus -15-16°C. Temperatures below minus 16-17°C are not excluded. The expected maximum temperatures will be between minus -3°C and plus 1°C.
During the weekend, cloudiness from the west will increase again, and the probability of light snowfall will increase in Western and Southern Bulgaria, and on Sunday - in the mountainous regions of Southern Bulgaria.
The minimum temperatures will be lowest on Friday and Saturday, and in most of the country they will range between -17°C to -7°C, while the maximums will remain close to 0°C.
From Sunday, temperatures will rise, but slowly.
