The case against Vasil Mihaylov from Pernik, accused of several beatings, continues in the Sofia District Court. The young man is the son of the city prosecutor Biser Mihaylov.
In front of the court, the father told about a case with Rumen Andonov, who is among those named by the prosecutor's office as a victim of beating.
"I know Andonov very well, until the summer of 2022 we were on good terms. He was my son's coach. I drove him in my car, I gave him money that he didn't give back to me," said Biser Mihaylov.
In one of the calls, Rumen Andonov said that they had entered into a conflict with Vasil Mihaylov. The man said that he had people to "hide" Biser Mihaylov's son.
"His tone was threatening towards my son. The threats were about my niece Mihaela, and the conflict was about an attempt at intimate relations between Andonov and the girl," said Biser Mihaylov.
We talked for nine minutes and I wonder how a person with a broken jaw on both sides could talk, but there was no mention of any beating, Mihaylov said.
Mihaylova then told Biser Mihaylov that Rumen Andonov asked her: “How much do they give you for sex, I'll give you double?”. This upset her, the father said in his testimony. Biser Mihaylov noted that there was talk about how the coach led a dissolute lifestyle.
Biser Mihaylov also said that Andonov complained to him that the conflict with Vasil took place in the city center and added that other people had not complained to him about his son. Asked if he had watched videos of violence with his son, Biser Mihaylov said that he had watched “videos about the eight dwarfs, about night shifts and about restaurants”.
The prosecution asked Biser Mihaylov to look at photos taken from a video recording. Mihaylov said that he saw people who looked like his son, as well as his ex-girlfriend Boryana. He recognized his son in only one of the frames.
At the beginning of the court hearing, it became clear that Mihaylov had changed his lawyer. This was the reason why he was defended by a public defender today.
In October last year, the Sofia District Court found Vasil Mihaylov guilty of one of the four threats to kill his ex-girlfriend Boryana Rangelova and acquitted him of the other three. The court sentenced him to one year and eight months of conditional imprisonment with four years of probation.
