Prof. Kiril Topalov: Religions rely on the mystical, but are very close to nature - 1

Religions in principle, as to rely on mysticism, are very close to nature. This is what the literary historian and critic, translator, diplomat and public figure Prof. Kiril Topalov said in an interview for BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

"What connects the Resurrection of Christ with spring? Well, the resurrection of nature, of life. It is not by chance that these holidays are placed like this. Spring is the best season, it inspires hope," he added.

In his words, the work of Cyril and Methodius stands at the beginning of all Bulgarian principles: spiritual and political. Topalov defined the creation of the alphabet as a "difficult and very important spiritual and political work". Therefore, according to him, the day of celebration of their case - May 24. is more appropriate to be defined as a Bulgarian national holiday.

"Through faith and spirituality, the work of Cyril and Methodius played a political role in stabilizing the Bulgarian state," the professor pointed out, expressing doubts that Bulgarian politicians really see the great scale and meaning of the work of the Holy Brothers.

Prof. Topalov urged us to remember that the Bulgarian people are not impersonal, although, in his words, they are "trying to turn us into such".
