We celebrate International Bee Day

On May 20, the world celebrates International Bee Day.

The day has been celebrated since 2018 on the initiative of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association with the support of the Government of Slovenia, approved by UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/72/211 of 20 December 2017 in order to inform the public about the importance of bees and bee products, as well as on issues related to the protection of endangered bees.

The day is the anniversary of the birth of the Slovenian Anton Janša /1734-1773/, who studied the reproduction of bees and laid the foundations of modern beekeeping.
