The Christmas season naturally puts us in the mood for cozying up around the TV, the quiet drift of snow outside, the crackling of wood in the fireplace.
With hundreds of Christmas movies released every year, it can sometimes be hard to choose what to watch.
To help you navigate, we've listed a few that we think are among the best Christmas movies of all time. The list includes sentimental classics, adult-oriented comedies, and beloved animations, writes vesti.bg.

If the thought of seeing Tim Allen in a Santa suit makes you dream of sugar plums, this is the movie for you. The Home Improvement star accidentally kills Santa Claus and has to take his place. It's not exactly his idea of a wonderful life, but he gradually finds the advantages of his new role.

A grown man working as Santa Claus at Macy's (Edmund Gwen) claims to be Kris Kringle, convincing both innocent children and the most cynical adults that he is absolutely real. There's something undeniably cute about this timeless classic, even though if it were made today, the main character would be handcuffed and thrown in jail.

Tim Burton and Henry Selick may seem more suited to Halloween than Christmas, but the masters of the spooky stop-motion holiday fable have created another film that's a real feast for the eyes.

Billy Bob Thornton splashes eggnog in this pitch-black comedy about a nasty, drunken Santa Claus con artist who goes on a Christmas Eve shoplifting spree with his elf helper Marcus (Tony Cox). This is for all the parents who watch alone after putting the kids to bed.

Forget the Jim Carrey version for a moment and watch the Chuck Jones animation and you'll realize that this is the version you want to watch over and over again. “The Grinch hated Christmas - all Christmas long. Now, please don't ask why, no one knows the exact reason. It's possible that his shoes were too tight. Or maybe his head wasn't screwed in quite right. But I think the most likely reason might be that his heart is two sizes too small."
2. Elf (2003)

Here is the best Christmas movie of the century. Will Ferrell is priceless as the giant elf who sets off from the North Pole to search for his father. Follow the story of the elf who returns home for Christmas.
1. It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946)
Directed by the great FRANK CAPRA

If you thought Frank Capra's main holiday thing was good cheer, watch it again. This movie is a funny, heartwarming, profound, and annual reminder that the holidays are about more than just presents, thanks to Jimmy Stewart's performance as George Bailey. If you haven't warmed up by the end credits, you're probably cold-blooded.
