Ivaylo Roussenov, who is Plamena Mitkova's coach, stated on his Facebook profile that she has a torn right calf. This was shown by tests conducted in China, BTA reported.

Early this morning Mitkova placed fourth in the women's long jump at the world championships indoors in Nanjing. She recorded only one successful attempt of 6.63 meters, and in the last one she received the injury because of which she was taken out of the track on a wheelchair.

"First of all, I want to calm everyone down. Plamena is fine and after the initial examination, the doctors found a 1 centimeter tear in the right calf with slight hemorrhage," wrote Roussenov.

He expressed satisfaction with the 20-year-old athlete's fourth place, but also regret at the few attempts actually made.

"We are closing a successful winter season, we will be stronger in the summer," added Roussenov. Earlier this month, Mitkova placed sixth at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn.
