PSV Eindhoven: Tuberculosis case among players - 1

Tensions have arisen in the PSV Eindhoven camp after the Dutch club's medical staff diagnosed active tuberculosis in one of the players.

The name of the affected player is not being disclosed for confidentiality reasons, but the team management assures that the necessary measures have already been taken. “We are closely monitoring the situation and working closely with the health authorities“, PSV announced.

Immediately after the confirmation of the case, a check was launched among the other players and club employees who were in contact with the infected player. What is the risk to the rest? Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that most often affects the lungs and can be transmitted through airborne droplets. However, according to the club's pulmonologist, the risk of the infection spreading within the team is minimal.

“There is basically no risk of infection in the open”, the specialist assured. So far, there is no evidence of an outbreak of the disease at the club, but health authorities will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of all players and staff.
