Legendary driver Michael Schumacher has personally signed a helmet for charity, reports the "Daily Mail". He did it with the help of his wife Corina, and the publication also published a photo showing his initials "MS", reports gong.bg.
The special white helmet will be worn by another great Formula 1 champion - Jackie Stewart - before the Bahrain Grand Prix today, and the goal is to raise funds for dementia research.
Schumacher, now 56, has not been seen in public since he suffered a serious brain injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013.
It also became clear that all 20 living Formula 1 world champions have signed the helmet. 85-year-old Scotsman Jackie Stewart will drive the Tyrrell he won the title with in 1973.
“It's great that Michael has been able to sign the helmet for this worthy cause against a disease for which there is no cure yet,“ Stewart told the Daily Mail at the Sahir circuit.
A spokeswoman for the Schumacher family confirmed to Reuters that the details were correct.
Stewart set up the charity Race Against Dementia in 2016 after his wife Helen began suffering from the disease. The charity raises and distributes funds to accelerate global research into the prevention and treatment of dementia.
