The appearance of unusual noises and vibrations, as well as changes in the functionality of the car, in most cases indicate impending failure. This is what the automotive expert Hats Diemer talks about.
Modern cars usually signal problems through the Check Engine system, and it will even indicate what exactly is broken, the expert emphasizes. However, the damage is calculated with an additional specialized diagnostic device.
"But if the warning icons on the dashboard do not light up, but you hear strange noises, then be alert and visit a service center as soon as possible. Of course, these are primarily external sounds and vibrations. You should pay special attention to this. Hissing, rattling, whistling and so on.
Even if this sound comes and goes, for example, while standing in traffic, and then driving, everything is fine. This means that there is some symptom that something in the car is not working properly”, warns the expert.
Sometimes even the service specialists cannot determine the source of the problem, but they will examine the most important and most dangerous links and assemblies. “If you have an automatic transmission, if you notice that the car pulls when changing gears, it began to shift nervously, there are any malfunctions during operation, especially when shifting to a higher or lower gear, the car has become difficult to shift or, on the contrary, shifts abruptly and prematurely, think about when was the last time you changed the oil in the gearbox”, the specialist points out.
To prevent breakdowns, you should visit a service center every six months for preventive purposes, recommends Dimmer. Any seemingly small thing can become fatal for one of the systems in the car, and for this reason do not delay. Listen to the sounds of the car and react promptly, concludes the expert.
