The Berlin Wall is clear why it was established in the public consciousness. It was a divider between the West and the East and in the current context far exceeds the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and the former Soviet Union in 1989. All of this, of course, was symbolized by the fall of the Berlin Wall. 35 years have passed since that time, which is a grain of sand in the dimension of the great time in which we live. And today we realize that this psychological Berlin Wall is built in many of us when it comes to taking a stand, when you feel the need to be democratic, to be tolerant, to understand the other point of view. This Berlin Wall today serves us as a screen that does not allow us to hide, to explain the world to ourselves, but hidden behind a screen that even divides the world into black and white. This screen simply serves to make it easier for us to explain what is happening and what is not happening today. The Berlin Wall in our minds is convenient as an excuse, it has not been forgotten, burned to the ground, it is constantly reproduced with new and new Rubicons, new barriers that divide our lives into black and white. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACTI“ and the program “Conversation“ by the public figure and analyst Georgi Atanasov.
“It is already 80 years since the end of World War II, after the defeat of the Third Reich, which will be celebrated in May in both the East and the West, as if the elites in Europe have forgotten what happened. They have too short a historical memory. Yes, they are probably relieved by the mass marginalization, mass illiteracy and ignorance of the new generations, who do not read, are not interested and hardly know what their predecessors experienced during the bloody First and Second World Wars. Today, Europe is talking about billions for increasing military spending, for a larger percentage of each country's GDP, and at the same time we see that Europe is financially squeezed, not to say almost bankrupt. And now we see a counterattack by the EU against Trump and against Putin, who is perceived by the Western European elites as an aggressor,“ added Georgi Atanasov.
